Lootera: Idle RPG

Most idle RPGs are a menu. Lootera is a town.

An idle RPG for Android, built by Koi Works Studio.

Android. In closed testing on Google Play. Open testing follows.

You walk it. The mine, the forge, the dungeon gate and the market are places you go to, not tabs you switch between. Other players stand in that town with their stalls floating above their heads. Walk up, look at what they're selling, buy it.

The fighting handles itself. You pick the dungeon and the route; your character does the swinging. Loot, XP and gold keep coming while you're away.

IWhat you actually do

Walk six dungeons, each its own place.

Floating ruins above a sea of cloud, a rocky pass, a moonlit forest, a bone vault, a cave. Third-person camera, free movement. Approach a pack and the fight starts; the boss unlocks when the room is clear.

Dungeon combat on a mossy stone platform among ruins above the clouds. The player faces three green slimes

  • A small armoured creature on a wooden bridge between rock walls A bridge through the rock
  • A grey wolf-like creature rearing up in a dark forest A forest at night
  • A skeleton with a round shield among tall bone spikes A bone vault
  • A green brute with a club on a rock floor strewn with bones Dark rock, bones underfoot
  • A creature made of stacked stones on snow, with a sunset behind Snow at sunset

Work the mine.

A drop every few seconds. Stone, and sometimes gems. It keeps running after you close the app, so there's something waiting when you come back.

Upgrade at the forge, with real risk.

Push gear from +1 to +5 with scrolls. A failed upgrade destroys the item. Every attempt is an actual decision, not a button you spam.

Trade with real players.

List your loot at your own price. Browse someone else's stall and buy straight from it. Prices are set by players, not by a shop NPC.

IIA long road, measured

  1. Level 10 about 26 minutes
  2. Level 50 about 5.5 hours
  3. Level 80 about 12 hours
  4. Level 100, the cap about 28 to 33 hours
6 Dungeons, each a separate scene
63 Items, across 4 rarities
Armour tiers leather iron mithril arcane

These came out of a balance pass that simulated 19,980 dungeon runs across 24 journeys. They are simulation figures, not measurements of real players, and they leave out time spent waiting on energy, mining or trading. Treat them as the floor, not the ceiling. This is a game measured in weeks rather than an afternoon.

Idle means idle

Close the game and come back: the mine is full, energy has refilled, progress happened without you. Five minutes a day or an hour, both work.

No gacha. No loot boxes.

Energy caps your runs. A free account regenerates one every ten minutes. A premium account regenerates faster and unlocks auto-attack directly; without it, auto-attack costs one rewarded ad per run. Everything else is earned by playing.

Not for you if

You want real-time action combat, gacha pulls, or a pay-to-win shortcut. Lootera is slow, numeric progression in a place you can move around in. That's the point.

IIIHow Lootera differs from other idle RPGs

Idle RPGs are usually built as interfaces. Tabs, lists, numbers going up. Lootera keeps the idle loop and puts it in a place you move through instead.

ApproachWhere the world livesWhere the market is
Lootera A 3D town and six dungeon scenes you walk through in third person Player stalls standing in the town, prices set by players
The usual shape of the genre Menus, tabs and skill lists A market screen

This is a comparison of structure, not of quality. An interface is a real design position and plenty of people prefer it, because it is frictionless. Walking somewhere is friction. Lootera bets that the friction buys a sense of place. That bet may be wrong, and it is the thing we most want to find out.

IVQuestions

What is Lootera?

Lootera is an idle RPG for Android in which the town is a place you walk rather than a menu. Combat resolves on its own; you choose the dungeon, the route and what to risk at the forge.

How is Lootera different from other idle RPGs?

Most idle RPGs present the world as an interface of tabs and lists. In Lootera the mine, the forge, the dungeon gate and the market are locations you travel to, and other players stand in that same town with their market stalls above their heads.

Is Lootera free to play?

Yes. Lootera is free. Energy caps how many runs you take, and a premium account regenerates energy faster and unlocks auto-attack directly. Without premium, auto-attack costs one rewarded ad per run. Everything else is earned by playing.

Does Lootera have gacha or loot boxes?

No. Lootera has no gacha and no loot boxes. Gear comes from dungeon drops, the forge and the player market.

Does progress continue while the game is closed?

Yes. The mine keeps producing and energy keeps refilling while Lootera is closed, so there is something waiting when you return.

How long is Lootera?

Reaching the level cap takes roughly 28 to 33 hours of active play, based on a balance pass that simulated 19,980 dungeon runs. That figure is simulation rather than measured player data, and it excludes time spent waiting on energy, mining or trading.

Can you trade with other players in Lootera?

Yes. Players list their own loot at their own prices and buy directly from each other's stalls. There is no shop NPC setting the price.

Lootera is an Android game. It is in closed testing on Google Play and is not publicly downloadable yet. Open testing follows.
